Happy New Year everyone! To kick off 2019, we are introducing a new game format to the Tahoe Pickleball community and we’re calling it Masters of the Mountain.
My favorite benefits of the new format are:
- Nonstop play as each round is timed
- Every round ensures a new mix of competition
- Win to earn your way up against the top competition
- It’s not the best team that wins, it’s the best partners (nuanced, but think about it)
- You don’t need a partner to compete
Check out the rules of the game in the below gallery and review the diagram to see how the game works. Additionally, I have laid out how Masters of the Mountain courts, and flow, will work at the Truckee Rec Gym.
Nice Matt!
Thanks Carol! Hopefully we’ll see you and your crew up in Tahoe again soon.
This looks fun. How many rounds do you play? And how do you decide who starts at the top court for the first round?
Hi Gail!
We time rounds to be either 10 or 12 minutes. In a typical morning (6:30–8:30 AM), we often play 9-10 rounds/games. In reality, it’s more play than most people get in a typical drop-in session. As far as who starts on what court, it’s typically come as a benefit of arriving early. That being said, we are always looking for ways to improve and are open to ideas.
We look forward to seeing you on the courts.
Cheers,
Matt
We will be in Tahoe July 21st and we’d like to play pickleball. Is there an open playing time? Where?
Hi Sherri,
Plenty of options for you on a Sunday. Depending on where you’re staying, Truckee Rec Center from 8-12, Incline Village Tennis Center 10-2, Squaw Valley Park 9 AM start. If you’re staying on the Southside of the lake, head over to Paradise park in the morning.
